It's a fact of life. Sleek, toned arms look beautiful. Many women wish their arms looked better. The fact is, building a fabulous pair of arms is really not that hard. All you need is a little dedication and a couple sets of hand weights.
If you've never lifted weights before, you'll need to start off with light weights. Try a set of 3-5 pound hand weights and see if you can lift them. If it's too easy, jump up to 8 pounds. Try to eventually build up to 10-12 pound weights.
1. Shoulder Press - Stand with feet shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent. Hold a dumbbell in each hand, close to your shoulders. Slowly push each weight up over your head, then down to shoulder level. Do 3 sets of 10 reps.
2. Biceps Curls - Stand with feet shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent. Hold a weight in each hand, down by your sides. Slowly lift the weights up to shoulder level, keeping elbows steady. Lower slowly. Do 3 sets of 10 reps.
3. Hammer Curls - Stand in position as for Biceps Curls. Hold weights down by sides, but turn wrists inward, as if you were holding hammers. Slowly raise the weights, being careful not to move elbows. Lower slowly. Do 3 sets of 10 reps.
4. Push-ups - These are self-explanatory. Try building up to 3 sets of 12.
5. Triceps - Hold one weight with both hands overhead. Slowly lower the weight behind your head, being certain not to move your elbows. Raise the weight back overhead. Do 3 sets of 12 reps.
Following this routine a minimum of three times per week should yield fabulous results. Remember to include aerobic activity and eat a well-balanced, low-calorie diet. Your arms will be sleek and tone!
